Wolverines Push Past Owls

Newark, NJ | The Wolverines of Essex County College delivered a commanding performance in their matchup against Union County College, walking off the field with a thoroughly convincing result. While Union County's offense was stifled, Essex's balance, energy, and depth made the difference.

From the opening whistle, Essex came out sharp and assertive. The defense pushed high, the midfield controlled transitions, and attackers sought every gap. What began as probing pressure turned into tangible results.

It wasn't long before Nikolaj Crnovcic ventured forward and tucked in a clinical finish — bringing Essex ahead and signaling that the back line would take part in the attack tonight. That opening strike set the tone: this would be a total team effort, not a one‑man show.

With the lead secured, Essex turned on the jets. The second half belonged to a relentless attack that pulled Union's defense apart.

  • Noah Kaiser pushed forward with conviction, firing off chances and finding the net with one of his shots.

  • Marques McDonald wove through defenders, drew attention, and picked out a clean assist.

  • Lukas Laube was efficient and effective — 3 shots, all on target, plus an assist — carving the match apart.

  • Kristijan Penic towered over the rest in attempts with 9 shots, converting twice to showcase finishing instincts.

  • Milomir Cvoric also joined the scoring banquet by converting on his chance.

The goals came from all quarters: defenders, midfielders, and forwards alike. Union's defensive shape seemed unable to adapt.

The men return to action Saturday, October 18th at Lackawanna College for their final Region XIX in the regular season.
