Essex Wolverines Women’s Track Shows Grit at Kean Invitational

Union, NJ– The Essex County College women's outdoor track and field team took to the track Thursday evening at the Kean University Invitational, facing challenging conditions in a rare weeknight competition. Cold temperatures and steady mist created less-than-ideal racing conditions, but the Wolverines demonstrated resilience and determination throughout the meet.

Despite the weather, several standout performances highlighted the evening, led by an impressive victory from Aaliyah Morgan in the women's 400-meter dash. Morgan powered through the elements to secure a first-place finish with a time of 1:00.25, showcasing both strength and composure under difficult circumstances.

In the women's 800-meter run, Nebia Montrope delivered a strong effort, finishing 15th overall with a time of 2:34.25. Her performance added another positive mark for the Wolverines as they continue to build momentum early in the outdoor season.

"Competing in those conditions is never easy, but our student-athletes showed toughness and focus," said Essex Head Coach, Bruce Berry. "Aaliyah's win and Nebia's effort are great examples of the progress we're making as a team."

The Wolverines will look to build on these performances as they continue their outdoor campaign in the coming weeks. The Wolverines are back on the track on Friday, April 3rd as they compete in the 2026 METS Outdoor Championships, hosted at the famed Icahn Stadium in Queens, NY.
