Essex Women Shine at Fast Track National Invite; Williams Hits National Mark in 60M

Staten Island, NY - The Essex women's indoor track team continued its impressive 2026 campaign on Friday, February 6, at the Fast Track National Invite at the Ocean Breeze Indoor Track Complex. The meet was highlighted by multiple personal bests and another national qualifying performance from standout sophomore Ma'Avian Williams.

Williams delivered the top performance of the day in the women's 60 meters. After running 7.82 in the preliminaries to place fifth out of 28 competitors, she elevated her performance in the finals, sprinting to a 7.71 finish to place second overall and hit the NJCAA National Qualifying Standard. The mark adds to her growing list of accomplishments this season.

Earlier this winter, Williams also met the NJCAA National Qualifying Standard in the 60-meter hurdles, establishing herself as one of the top dual-event athletes in the region. On Friday, she continued to show her consistency in the hurdles, running 8.86 in the preliminaries (2/21) before lowering her time to 8.84 in the finals to secure another second-place finish.

Kadina Deeble turned in a strong showing in the 60-meter hurdles as well, finishing third overall. She clocked 8.87 in both the preliminaries (3/21) and finals (3/8), demonstrating impressive consistency in a competitive field. Deeble also recorded a personal best in the women's 60 meters, placing sixth out of 50 competitors with a time of 8.10.

Alliyaha Morgan contributed across multiple sprint events. She finished 11th out of 50 in the 60 meters with a time of 8.19 and later competed in a large 200-meter field, placing 27th out of 100 in 26.55.

In the women's 400 meters, Nebia Montrope clocked 1:05.67, finishing 84th out of 99 competitors.

Essex will have one final opportunity to sharpen its performances at the Fast Track Last Chance Invitational on Friday, February 20, at Ocean Breeze before traveling to Topeka, Kansas for the NJCAA Division I Indoor National Championship. With national qualifying marks already secured and momentum building, the Lady Wolverines look poised to make a strong statement on the national stage.
