Wolverines Fall to Sussex CCC in Region XIX Opener

Newark, NJ | Region XIX opened up play Saturday afternoon as the women's team traveled to Sussex County Community College. 

Sussex CCC struck first when Leah English found herself opened in the box, giving them an early 1-0 lead and they didn't slow down from there. Essex CC was able to pull one back right before the half. Martine Joazard was able to find the back of the net off a corner kick. Xiomara Rivera lifted the ball perfectly into the box where Joazard found herself on the end of it. 

Essex was able to to put up 6 shots throughout the game, 3 of them being on goal. Brihana Staple faced 14 shots from Sussex CCC, making 9 saves.

The women will be playing Wednesday, September 17th for the first time on their home turf against reigning Region XIX champions, Mercer CCC.
