Newark, NJ - The Essex County College women's basketball team earned a 71-54 home victory over Passaic County Community College on Saturday improving to a 14-4 overall record.
Freshman forward, Essence Cushionberry led the Wolverines with 20 points, five rebounds, and five steals, while freshman guard, Gabriella Brown added 16 points and five steals. Sophmore guard, Michelle Hernandez contributed a double-double with 12 rebounds and eight points, and sophomore center, Kayley Lynch chipped in 13 points and 15 rebounds off the bench. Sophomore point guard, Aniya Brown led the team with seven assists, helping to distribute the offense effectively.
Essex shot 40.7% from the field and 36.4% from three-point range, while forcing 15 steals and controlling the glass with 45 total rebounds.
The Wolverines return to action on Saturday, January 31, traveling to Mercer County Community College for their second Region 19 / GSAC conference matchup of the season at 12:00 pm.
