Essex Women Pull Away Late for 73–58 Road Win at Delaware Tech

Dover, Del- The Essex County College women's basketball team closed out a strong road performance with a decisive fourth quarter to earn a 73–58 victory over Delaware Technical Community College on Friday.

After three tightly contested quarters, Essex entered the final period holding a narrow lead before erupting for 30 points in the fourth to put the game out of reach. The Wolverines outscored Delaware Tech 30–15 over the final 10 minutes, using aggressive defense and consistent trips to the free-throw line to seal the win.

Aniya Brown led all scorers with 22 points, adding 10 rebounds for a double-double while also dishing out five assists. Mia-Marie Thomas finished with 15 points, six rebounds, and four assists, consistently attacking the rim and converting 9-of-12 free throws. Natalie Fonseca chipped in 10 points along with three steals, helping set the tone defensively.

Essex dominated the glass throughout the game, outrebounding Delaware Tech 60–40. Michelle Hernandez was a force inside, pulling down a game-high 19 rebounds while adding eight points, three steals, and three blocks. Kayley Lynch also posted a double-double with 10 points and 13 rebounds, anchoring the Wolverines in the paint.

Off the bench, Kassandrah Phanor provided key minutes and scoring, contributing eight points and seven rebounds.

Essex finished the game shooting 40.7 percent from the field and capitalized at the free-throw line, knocking down 25 of 37 attempts. The Wolverines' rebounding advantage and strong fourth-quarter execution proved to be the difference as they improved with the road win.

The next game will be home on Saturday, Jan. 10th at 12pm against Camden County College.
