Wolverines Drop Region XIX Opener

Newark, NJ | The Wolverines lose their first game of the season to nationally ranked #3 Mercer County Community College.

Essex went toe to toe with Mercer Wednesday evening in a tough Region XIX matchup. The visitors struck first, when Daniel Garcia found himself 1 on 1 with Rodrigo Marques De Almeida. De Almeida went to clear the ball when Garcia was able to block it and the ball found itself in the back of the net. Garcia would not back down after that, having himself a night scoring 4 goals and adding an assist. 

It was a tough game and the Wolverines battled for the entirety of the 90 minutes. Lukas Laube tallied another brace, scoring Essex's first goal and third. Noel Dreist continues his hot streak by added a goal of his own to level it out at halftime. 

De Almeia faced 10 shots, making 5 saves during the game. The men return to action Saturday afternoon to face Dutchess Community College.
