Essex Men's Soccer Wins Season Opener

West Caldwell, NJ | The Essex County College men's soccer team opened the 2025 season in style with a 4–1 victory over Suffolk County Community College on Wednesday night.

Sophomore Roland Kabore opened up the scoring in the third minute of play, finding himself open in the box; he was able to finish a low driven ball in assisted by freshman Marques McDonald. The Wolverines were able to carry the momentum when again Kabore scored his second of the game, assisted by freshman Soloman Paintsil. However, Suffolk County CC were able to pull one back before the half was over, making it 2-1 at halftime.

The Wolverines came out strong to start the second half and freshman Noel Dreist found himself with his first collegiate goal, assisted by freshman Lukas Laube. Ten minutes later, Dreist secured his brace and was assisted by Kabore to help secure the win. 

The Wolverines return to action this Saturday, September 6th, when they travel to New York to take on Nassau Community College at 4:00pm.
