Harcum Pulls Away from Essex in Road Matchup
Bryn Mawr, PA- The Essex County College men's basketball team battled through two competitive halves Tuesday night but ultimately fell to Harcum College, 92-70, on the road.
Essex (32 points in the first half) stayed within striking distance early, trailing just 41-32 at the break. However, Harcum used a strong second-half surge, outscoring the Wolverines 51-38 over the final 20 minutes to secure the win.
Jaden Reid led Essex offensively with 15 points off the bench, shooting 5-of-12 from the field and a perfect 4-for-4 from the free-throw line. Ryan English added 14 points, including two three-pointers, while Ethan Laquindanum chipped in 10 points and three rebounds.
Rodney Willis Jr. anchored the effort on the boards, pulling down a team-high 10 rebounds to go along with seven points. As a team, Essex shot 32.4 percent from the field (22-of-68) and 28.6 percent from three-point range (6-of-21), but stayed efficient at the free-throw line, converting 20-of-23 attempts (87 percent).
The Wolverines showed depth scoring, with 11 players contributing points, and finished with 35 total rebounds and 10 assists.
Wolverines next game will be Tuesday, February 17th vs Lackawanna College at 7:00pm. Before the tip-off, the athletics department will be honoring our six sophomore student-athletes as they will be playing their final home game of the regular season.
