Wolverines Show Fight in Road Test at Rockland
Newark, NJ- The scoreboard at Rockland Community College read 101–73, but for the Essex County College men's basketball team, the night was about much more than the final score. It was about effort, growth, and flashes of what this group is becoming.
From the opening tip, Essex played with confidence and aggression. Ethan Laquindanum set the tone early, attacking defenders and knocking down shots on his way to 11 points, showing poise and fearlessness on the road. His energy sparked the Wolverines and kept them competitive through the early stretches.
In the paint, Rodney Willis Jr. was relentless. Outworking defenders possession after possession, Willis pulled down 12 rebounds, including nine offensive boards, refusing to give Rockland easy trips down the floor. His effort translated into 11 hard-earned points and set an example of toughness and commitment that resonated throughout the lineup.
The Wolverines' depth continued to shine. Off the bench, Gabriel Morales led the team with 12 points, knocking down timely shots and providing a steady offensive presence. Ryan English added 11 points of his own while making an impact on both ends, coming up with two steals and a block that shifted momentum and energized his teammates.
Even on a night when outside shots didn't fall as often as usual, Essex found positives everywhere else. The Wolverines dominated the glass with 40 rebounds, moved the ball for 16 assists, and competed for every loose ball. Those extra possessions and shared efforts reflected a team that is learning how to win together.
The next game will be played home on Saturday 1/17/2026 vs Delaware Tech at 2pm.
