Essex Men’s Basketball Opens Spring Season with Home Win against Camden

Newark, N.J. — The Essex County College men's basketball team opened the spring season with a hard-fought 72–63 victory over Camden County College on Saturday, January 10, in Newark.

Essex relied on balanced scoring and strong play at the free-throw line to secure the win, converting 28-of-38 attempts from the stripe. The Wolverines withstood a physical contest and made key plays down the stretch to pull away from Camden.

Freshman guard, Christian Hampton led Essex with 16 points, while freshman, Ryan English added 15 points and seven rebounds off the bench. Sophomore guard, Wesley Lafleur chipped in 13 points off the bench, and freshman guard, Francis Demfack Tatanfack contributed 9 points and six rebounds.

Defensively, the Wolverines forced 12 turnovers and held Camden to 34.5 percent shooting from the field.

The Wolverines are back in action on Tuesday, January 13, as they host the Howard Community College Dragons at 7:00 p.m.
