Wolverines fall to the Owls of Prince George
Newark, NJ- Essex County College battled through a fast-paced, high-scoring matchup but ultimately fell to Prince George's, 105–94, despite several standout performances.
The Wolverines stayed competitive behind a monster night from Rodney Willis Jr., who powered his way to 27 points and 18 rebounds, controlling the paint on both ends. Off the bench, Carl Matala caught fire from deep, burying five threes and finishing with 19 points, providing a huge spark whenever Essex needed a lift.
Guard play kept Essex rolling as Ethan Laquindanum delivered 15 points and 7 assists, pushing the tempo and finding teammates in rhythm. Jason Martinez added 11 points and 7 rebounds, while Christian Hampton chipped in 8 off the bench. Emard Babacap contributed toughness inside with 7 boards.
Essex shot a strong 45.7% from the field and totaled 94 points, but turnovers and defensive lapses allowed PGCC to maintain separation late. Still, the Wolverines showed depth, fight, and offensive balance—encouraging signs as they move forward.
Essex returns home on November 22nd to take on Salem Community College at 2:00 PM.
