Newark, NJ - The Wolverines cruised past Mercer County Community College on Sat. afternoon 102-92, led by Jaidan Gilzene with 40 points and 11 rebounds. Trailing by 7 at halftime, Gilzene put the Wolverines offense on his back and powered them to victory; helping them outscore their opponents 62-45 in the second half. Ethan Laquindanum chipped in with 14 points and 5 assists, as the Wolverines shot 67.8% from the field for the game. What is more amazing is Gilzene's 40 point out burst comes with no threes made, going 19/21 from the field and only 2/3 from the line.
Johnathan Quiles II also scored 14 points with 4 rebounds and 1 steal.
Essex (8-15) now enjoys four days off before returning to battle Region 19 rivals Raritan on Thurs. Feb. 6th at home in the Cleo Hill Gym for a 7pm tipoff.
