Newark, NJ - The Wolverines opened up their 2024-2025 season Saturday at Howard Community College, losing 71-47. The Dragons high powered offense came out flying in the first half, helping Howard build a 36-16 halftime lead. Essex would tighten up the defense and shoot better in the second half, before ultimately dropping to 0-1 under first year Head Coach AJ Kemp. Sophomore Jaiden Gilzene would lead the Wolverines with 22 points and 11 rebounds, while Ethan Laquindanum chipped in with 7 assists. The Wolverines would shoot 34.5% from the field, while letting the Dragons shoot 37.2%
The Wolverines (0-1) return to action Sunday and conclude their Maryland trip at Prince George Community College. (2pm tipoff)
