Newark, NJ - The Wolverines took on Mercer County Community College in a tough Region 19 matchup on Feb. 1st, in which Mercer bested the Wolverines 83-67. Essex came out strong in the first half, taking a 38-30 halftime lead thanks to some red hot shooting from Koi Kirk Jr. and Shane Cedres. What a turn of events, as Mercer came out flying to start the second half and the Wolverines were unable to keep up offensively, leading to them taking the game and final score. Koi Kirk Jr lead the Wolverines offense with 27 points and Shane Cedres chipped in 8 points as well.
The Wolverines next game will be Saturday Feb. 3rd at Delaware Tech with a 1pm tipoff, in a must win game to keep their playoff hopes alive in Region 19.
