Wolverines Pickup Huge Win
Newark, NJ - Essex County College Men's Basketball picked up a huge win over Delaware Tech Saturday Feb. 3rd. In what was a back and forth game in the first half with both teams hitting shots, the Wolverines picked up the victory 95-85. The Wolverines offense was led by Koi Kirk Jr. with 22 points and 12 rebounds and Amir Carter Smith with 26 points (7 for 7 from 3 point range). The game was close in the first half, with the Wolverines taking a 41-38 halftime lead. In the second half, the Wolverines continued their hot shooting from the field but came up with key stops on defense to win the game. Sultan Sharif also chipped in with 11 rebounds, helping the Wolverines to an excellent all around executed game; keeping their playoff hopes alive.
The Wolverines return to action next against Raritan Valley Community College at Raritan Thursday Feb. 8th with a 7pm tipoff scheduled. Essex will face a tough test in this Region 19 matchup, as last time these two teams faced off Raritan handed the Wolverines a decisive loss 100-76.
