Wolverines come up short against Lackawanna

Poconos, PA - The Wolverines suffered a tough loss on Tuesday night losing to Region 19 opponent Lackawanna on the road 79-71.

Essex came out strong and would defend and get easy buckets through the offence. Wolverines would go up at half 41-31 and even take a 15 point lead in the second half (53-38). That would change soon as Lackawanna made a comeback to turn things around, using a  full-court defense. Lackwanna would shoot 46.9% in the second half that included 16 free throws held. Meanwhile, Essex would shoot 33% in the second, with 20 turnovers.

Essex was led by Koi Kirk's 23 points, while Jaiden Gilzene added 22 points and 13 rebounds.
