Hits National Qualifying Mark as Wolverine Women Open Outdoor Season at Ramapo
Mahwah, NJ - The Essex County College women's track & field team kicked off its outdoor season this past weekend at the Ramapo College Two-Day Invitational, highlighted by a national qualifying performance and several strong individual efforts.
Kadina Deeble led the Wolverines with an outstanding showing in the 100-meter hurdles. Deeble posted a time of 14.59 in the finals after running 14.86 in the prelims, earning a national qualifying mark in the event. She also competed in the 100 meters (13.08) and 200 meters (27.76), showcasing her versatility.
Aaliyaha Morgan delivered one of the top performances of the meet for Essex, placing second overall in the 400 meters with a time of 1:00.62. Morgan also competed in the 200 meters, finishing in 27.14.
In the middle-distance events, Nebia Montrope contributed solid efforts, placing 13th in the 800 meters with a time of 2:36.59 and competing in the 1500 meters.
Despite cold conditions, the Wolverines opened the season with a national qualifier and several competitive performances, setting a positive tone for the remainder of the outdoor season.
Essex will next compete at the METS Championships at Icahn Stadium in New York, where the Wolverines will look to continue building momentum.
