Willis Named GSAC Division II Men’s Basketball Player of the Week
Newark, NJ - Sophomore center Rodney Willis Jr. has been named the GSAC Division II Men's Basketball Player of the Week for games played January 26–31, the conference announced.
Willis delivered a dominant two-game stretch, averaging 20.5 points and 10.5 rebounds per game while shooting efficiently and anchoring the paint on both ends of the floor.
In a 108–87 victory over Bucks on January 29, Willis was a force inside, helping lead his team to a decisive win. He followed that performance with another strong outing against Mercer on January 31, scoring in double figures and battling on the boards in a 103–95 loss.
Over the two-game span, Willis totaled 41 points, 21 rebounds, five assists, five steals, and four blocks in 60 minutes of action. He finished the week shooting 26-of-45 from the field and collected 12 offensive rebounds, consistently creating second-chance opportunities for his team.
A dominant presence on the glass, Willis leads the team in both offensive (118) and defensive rebounds (116) and ranks 15th nationally in NJCAA Division II at 9.8 rebounds per game, highlighting his two-way impact and relentless effort.
Willis' recognition highlights another strong performance for the program and underscores his emergence as one of the conference's premier interior players.
