Newark, NJ - The Wolverines lost a close game in overtime Saturday to rivals Raritan Valley, 75-69. Kayley Lynch led the Wolverines with 18 points and 14 rebounds, while both Michelle Hernandez and Basirat Animashaun chipped in with 8 points and 20 rebounds and 11 points and 17 rebounds. The Wolverines led for most of the game, before Raritan became red hot from long distance, shooting 14/41 from three point range. Raritan also came up with key baskets to force overtime and used stingy defense to outscore Essex 16-11 in overtime for the win.
The Wolverines would go on to shoot 34.9% from the field and allow Raritan to shoot 30.1%.
Essex Women's basketball finishes the year 3-7 and returns to action in the new year on Tuesday Jan. 14th at Lackawanna College, as apart of a double header with the men's teams. Tip off is scheduled for 5pm and 7pm respectively.
